Our committee consists of 22 dedicated people, who have been spending many months preparing for 2021! COVID-19 made 2020 a hard year for all of us, which is why we are going to make this year even better than before! From balls to career nights, without the work our dedicated team has made, much of what we have to offer would not have been possible. Learn more about our amazing executive team below:

PRESIDENT

Hey! My name is Bec and I am President of the Science Society. My role involves leading the incredible 28-person science committee to provide educational and social events for our members. I oversee all portfolios including social, academic, communications, sponsorship, finance, and general. Our goal is to ensure that students have a fun, safe and amazing experience at Monash University.

G’day! My name is Chris and I am the MSS Vice President. Basically, my role is to assist the President as needed. Running a committee of 28 people can get hectic sometimes, so I share the load of Presidential responsibilities. This includes assisting portfolios with their tasks and ensuring they are meeting deadlines, as well as attending meetings with the Clubs & Societies Council and the Science Faculty.

Hey! My name is Max and I am the secretary for 2021. I oversee and provide guidance to the Social Media & Marketing Officers and I'm responsible to the president. I am also charged with the maintenance of MSS matters, from emails to forms and membership registrations, ensuring that inwards and outwards correspondence for the Club is handled correctly and in a timely manner.

Hi! My name is Darcy and I am the academic director for 2021. My job is to organise academic events for science students to network and to get a better understanding of future career paths. I also work with the careers publication officers to complete our careers publication for the year, as well as liaising with science faculty members.

Hello! My name’s Mary and I’m your 2021 social director! My role involves running events with the sole purpose of fostering opportunities for students to meet one another. Making friends at University through MSS has been a highlight of my studies, so I hope through my role I can give back by creating similar opportunities for my fellow students! Events I’ll be overseeing include our O-Week, BBQs and Ball.

Hi, I'm Conor and my role on the Monash Science Society is the Treasurer. My main responsibilities are to look after the bank account and handle money; reimbursing our committee members, keeping track of income and expenses for the club; the process of grant applications and submitting reports on our financial activity to Clubs and Societies (C&S). Other than those responsibilities, I am also a committee member and Executive.

Every year, we accept 6 First Year Representatives, for students interested in helping the committee out with the general roles and organising social events. We elect these people at our Ordinary General Meeting (OGM), which will be held in Week 4, Semester 1 2021. More information can be found on our Events page. However, elections for 2022 roles are held at the end of Semester 2 at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
